Responsibilities

Columbus Technologies and Services is seeking qualified candidates for the role of UNIX Administrator in support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) program.
This position may Telework from any U.S. Based location.
This is a Remote position
An Active DOD Secret Clearance is required.
 
Job Description
Work team of UNIX administrators that define UNIX standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.
- Provide 24/7 services for Solaris / Linux OS and Oracle Hardware related issues.
- Resolve Remedy tickets for IA, Solaris, Linux OS before they breach
- Conduct regularly scheduled system maintenance for the multi-server/multi-platform network
- Develop detailed procedures and documentation for performing routing system maintenance.
- Maintains operating systems and hardware to the most current approved levels. Applies patches and updates to application software.
- Strong Cyber Security skills and understanding/capabilities of achieving zero vulnerabilities
- Responsible for patching Solaris 10, 11, and RHEL 6, and 7 environment
- Design and document SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for system administration activities
- Administer user accounts on Solaris 10, 11, and Linux OS
- Create and maintain scheduled jobs using crontab on Solaris, and Linux platforms
- Participate in On-Call support
- Use monitoring tools such as Spectrum to monitor alerts / health of servers and file system thresholds
- Strong written and oral communication; interpersonal and listening skills in order to communicate with customers, and management alike; the ability to build relationships.
- Exceptional analytical and problem resolution skills to include root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Review ACAS scans and remediate any identified vulnerabilities and create POAM’s as needed
- Work closely with customers/users to resolve issues identified in Remedy Ticketing System
 
 

Qualifications

Required
- BA/BS degree and 5 to 13 years of experience.
- Secret clearance (current/active)
- Must have Hands-on Unix/Linux System Administration experience; including storage, compute, virtual machines, and hardware and software interfaces
- Strong Solaris and Red Hat UNIX skills
 
Desired
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification/s (ex: Security+CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
- Possess strong analytical skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Configuration Management (puppet)
- Capacity Planning and Performance Analysis abilities + Disaster Recovery
