Responsible for assisting the Program Manager in the technical, financial and administrative management of government and/or commercial project managing a variety of personnel covering various disciplines. Typically, responsible for minimum of 20+ professionals and $20M+ revenues. Requires excellent judgment, frequent interaction with senior corporate leadership and division management and client contacts. Has familiarity of U.S. Federal government acquisition regulations and directives.


  1. Develop, show-case, and market Columbus’ capabilities in Aerospace
  2. Support the Vice President in organic and new business growth of the Aerospace Division
  3. Actively monitor and identify strategic opportunities, conduct gate reviews, schedule customer calls, engage potential teammates, respond to RFIs, and support proposal activities
  4. Manages program operation in conjunction with Program Manager and within contractual requirements to assure conformance and support new/follow-on business.
  5. Assures priorities for deliverables, budgets and technical support are met to comply with program plans and deliverables.
  6. Coordinates with Program Manager to ensure profitability goals and timetables are met. Recommends adjustments as necessary.
  7. Establishes customer intimacy, fosters client rapport, promotes company brand, and maintains successful contractor-client relationship.
  8. Maintains all program schedules and status reports for supervisor.
  9. Assures all activities/operations comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  10. Assists in proposal development efforts.
  11. Ensures quality assurance programs and maintains corporate professionalism and technical excellence goals.
  12. Works with Program Manager to review and approve all contract deliverables and reports.
  13. Punctuality and regular attendance
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.



BS/BA or equivalent and 8+ years applicable experience of which 3+ are technical and supervisory experience in government and/or commercial contract management. Must have familiarity with various contract types (e.g., Cost Reimbursement, Firm-Fixed Price, etc.) and U.S. Federal government acquisition regulations. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software is highly desirable. Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired. Must be able to work with limited direction. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, leadership ability, business judgment, tact, discretion and initiative are required. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential to insure optimal productivity and customer service. This position requires in-person attendance at weekly meetings with multiple program staff. These interactions are sometimes unscheduled, frequent, and necessary to properly perform this position. Therefore, the individual holding this position must be readily accessible at the facility on a daily basis.
